Overview

The 10 days Rwanda and Tanzania safari is a great way to enjoy the wildlife in these two countries that are located in East Africa. During these 10 days, trek the mountain gorillas and the golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, game drives and hot air ballooning in Serengeti National park and Ngorongoro Crater Area. Visit the twin lakes in Rwanda and these are Ruhondo and Burera, taking a city tour in Kigali to enjoy attractions like the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre, art and craft centres and more. Visiting the ibyiwachu cultural centre is a great way to encounter one of the African cultures.

Detailed itinerary

Day1. Arrival in Kigali and city tour

Arrive at the airport, meet and greet the driver guide who will take you through briefing about the safari and then enjoy a city tour where you will encounter different attractions like the Kigali Genocide Memorial grounds, Kimironko market, Inema art centre, milk bars and many more others. Later on, head to the lodge for dinner and this will be the end of the day.

Day2. Transfer to Volcanoes national park via twin lakes

Have a leisure breakfast which will be followed by a transfer to Volcanoes national park via the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Take a canoe ride on one of the lakes to enjoy different birds, rolling hills and many more others. Proceed to Volcanoes national park a home to the rare mountain gorillas and located in the Virunga massif. Arrive and head to the lodge for your dinner and nights stay.

Day3. Gorilla trekking and visiting Ibyiwachu cultural village

Have your breakfast after waking up and then a short drive to the park offices in Kinigi for briefing. This is a great time since you will encounter different aspects such as rules and regulations, cross checking the gorilla trekking permit, allocation of the gorilla family, hiring Porters and more. After the assigned park ranger guide will take you into the forest to search for these primates in their natural habitat. On locating a gorilla family trekked, spend an hour in their presence and this will create everlasting memories as you witness them moving, beast feeding, playing, searching for food and more others.

After lunch, take part in visiting the ibyiwachu cultural village also known as the Gorilla Guardian Village known for its conservation efforts through cultural experiences like music, dance and drama, story telling, tasting local dishes and more others. You are requested to buy some of the hand made crafts to support the locals economies. Head to the lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day4. Golden monkey trekking

Like the previous day, have breakfast and head back to the park offices where you encounter different rules and regulations and here you will be instructed to use flash light camera since the golden monkeys enjoy the light from the camera. Begin the search after breakfast and this will create everlasting memories as you meet different attractions including the unique birds, plants, primates and more. On meeting a troop of golden monkeys in the bamboo trees, take photos as they jump from one tree to another. After the experience head back to the lodge for leisure evening.

Day5. Transfer to Kigali and fly to Arusha Tanzania

Enjoy a buffet breakfast which will be followed by a transfer to Kigali lasting for 3 hours. Later on your arrival, fly to Arusha Tanzania where you will meet another tour driver guide that will take you through Tanzania. Head to the hotel booked for your dinner and nights stay.

Day6. Head to Serengeti NP and Game drive

Have your breakfast and then check out and head to Serengeti national park. Serengeti NP is one of the most famous national parks in Africa known for homing diverse wildlife that are always seen in plenty roaming in the savannahs. This park hosts the migration of wildebeest that occurs annually that is between May to November. Arrive and head to the lodge for a hot lunch followed by a game drive which introduces you the beauty of this national park. Later on, head to the lodge for your accommodation.

Day7-8. Explore Serengeti plains

Take part in different game drives during these days and this will create everlasting memories. There is a lot to spot such as animal grazing, hunting prey and more. The amazing picnic lunch at one of the designated areas will also be an amazing adventure. Expect to meet Rhino, Springboks, zebra, Elephant, lion, warthogs, giraffes, dik dik, kudu, crocodiles, wildebeest and more of the birds like the ostriches, vultures, hornbills, ibis and more others. Apart from the game drives, take part in hot air ballooning tour a great chance to explore the park in air. The basket will give you an earial view of the surrounding while capturing aerial photos.

Day9. Head to Ngorongoro Crater area, game drive

Leave for Ngorongoro Crater from Serengeti where you get a chance to engage in a 5 hours game drive with a chance of spotting large and small mammals and birds such as lions, black rhinos, elephants, leopards, vultures, ibis and many more others. Have a a beautiful scenery of the the crater and more. This day will comprise of picnic lunch while watching the wild.

Day10. Game drive and departure

Have a short game drive which will be followed by a drive back to Arusha after breakfast. Arrive and be dropped at the airport and this will mark the end of the safari.
