Murchison Falls National Park is the largest, popular, and oldest conservation areas of Uganda which is under the management of Uganda Wildlife Authority. It was gazetted as a game reserve in 1926 later established as a national park in 1952.

Intially this park was known as Kabalega falls National park covering a space of 3840 square km with the world’s most powerful waterfalls and it lies in the northern part of the Albertine rift valley.

The park is endowed with diverse natural eco-systems of savannah grasslands, riverine forests, woodlands, and palm-dotted plains, offering one of the most dramatic landscapes in East Africa. Murchison Falls National Park is a habitant to about 144 mammals, 51 reptiles, 51 amphibians, and over 560 bird species.

Its greenery vegetation comprises the tall trees and short grasslands like the Borassus palms, Acacias that feed the inhabited wildlife through the years.

Details of the safaris

Day 1: An early morning road transfer from Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

On the day 1 upon meeting your guide, you will embark on the journey to Murchison Falls National Park where you will make a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to encounter endangered Rhinos in their natural habitats. To encounter these rhino species , you will enggage in rhino tracking that will take 1 to2 hours.

You will have your lunch with in the sanctuary and then later on you will continue with the transfer to the murchison falls National park. As you arrive in the park, you will go ahead with a relaxation at the lodge.

Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise

Wake up to a delicious and energy-giving breakfast and head out on the morning guided game drive encountering the savannah elephants, lions, savannah birds, different antelope species, Rothschild’s giraffes, buffalos, and many other mammals in the north circuit about 3- 4 hours.

Then an afternoon boat cruise on the Nile River with the relaxing cool breeze of the river, watching the Nile crocodiles, hippos, water birds, and hearing the hard sounds of the mighty waterfalls.

Day 3: A hike to the top of the falls, community visit, and the park Sundowner

Morning breakfast and relaxation, then the hike to the top of the mighty waters of Murchison Falls, which is considered the world’s most powerful waterfall falls also traditionally known as the Kabalega waterfalls. Here you will hear the whispers of the heavy fallings of water, beautiful bird sounds.

Lunch at the lodge and thereafter a drive to Pakwach community for the traditional and cultural experience, woodworks, iron smelting, cultural dance experience and social hour with the local and a short tour around Pakwach town. A relaxing sundowner experience after a long day on the Nile River, enjoying wildlife viewing, bush and bird sounds, snacks and drinks, fruits and so much more in the wilderness.

Day 4: Road transfer from Murchison Falls National Park to Entebbe

Day 4 of 4-day Murchison Falls Safaris, you will engage in a relaxed morning breakfast and then go ahead with the transfer to Kampala. You will engage in a city tour, which is optional according to the time of your flight.
