Welcome you to the 3-day Samburu black Rhino tracking safari that will offer a perfect blend of wildlife and culture. In this safari, the prime activity is the black rhino tracking in the Sera Rhino Conservancy, which is situated in the Samburu National Reserve.

Sera Rhino Sanctuary is a community-operated project that aims to conserve the reintroduced rhinos that were once extinct due to poaching. You will engage in activities like rhino tracking, game drives, a community visit to the Samburu village, and a sundowner.

You will encounter a number of the savannah wildlife including the big five. Some of these wildlife include lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, zebras, and many other species.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Samburu National Reserve

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the Samburu National Reserve. In the transfer, you will make a stopover at the equator for photography and refreshment.

You will experience the scenic landscape views of the semi-arid fertile plains of the area. On arrival in the reserve, you will continue to the lodge and check in.

As you are at the lodge, you will have your lunch and a relaxation as you prepare for an evening game drive. During the game drive, you will encounter several species of wildlife around the reserve.

You will encounter several wildlife, like lions, buffalo, elephants, giraffes, and many other wildlife.

Meal plan: Lunch, dinner.

Day 2: Black rhino tracking.

You will rise early in the morning, start with breakfast, and then you will later on continue with a transfer to the Sera rhino sanctuary, which will take about 2 to 3 hours of the day. On arrival at the Sanctuary, you will start with an orientation about the activity.

You will continue with the activity under the guidance of a ranger guide to ensure your safety during the tracking. In this tracking, you will follow the foot steps of the rhinos.

Once you come across them, you will maintain a distance of about 8 meters to ensure safety during a safari. You will also encounter other wildlife during the tracking, like zebras, giraffes, oryx, and several bird species.

You will later continue with a transfer to the Samburu community for a cultural experience in activities like cultural dances, bead making, and learn about the community’s role in the conservation of the rhinos.

In the evening, you will go ahead with a sundowner where you will have views of the rugged Samburu landscapes.

Day 3: Early morning game and transfer to Nairobi

On the last day of the 3-day Samburu Black rhino tracking safari, you will start the day with an early morning game drive around the reserve, where you will encounter a number of the wildlife. After the game drive, you will proceed with a transfer to Nairobi.

While in Nairobi, you will either choose to be transferred to the airport for your outbound flights or a hotel of your choice.
