Overview

Rwanda is a landlocked country situated in Central Africa, bordered to the North by Uganda, to the East by Tanzania, to the South by Burundi and to the West by the Democratic Republic of Congo. Considered to be among the smallest countries on the continent, Rwanda’s total area is estimated to be KM2 26,338. The 4 days tour goes to 2 of Rwanda’s national parks, Nyungwe and Akagera with de tours to Lake Kivu one of Rwanda’s largest lakes and Kigali City for a visit to the Genocide Memorial.

Day 1- Arrival and Kigali City tour

Today you arrive in Kigali, and you will be picked up by a guide who will transfer you to the hotel in Kigali for refreshing and then embark on a tour in the city. We shall Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, Between April and July in 1994 (100 days), over 800,000 Rwandese were killed and this is one of the most rapid genocide to ever be recorded. The Kigali Genocide Memorial tells a story that is a hard one to tell by the survivors and locals of Rwanda. After the tour we shall return to the hotel for an overnight before we drive on the west side roads the next day.

Day 2- Kivu Boat tour and transfer to Nyungwe Forest

Today after breakfast at the hotel, we drive west to Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is the main and largest water body in Rwanda neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. The lake is one of Africa’s Great Lakes, surrounded by magnificent mountains and has deep emerald green waters. We shall have a boat trip on the lake and later we drive further south to Nyungwe Forest.

Day 3- Canopy walk and overnight at Akagera National Park

The 2.1km Igishigishigi trail, amazes with views of the canopy walk. The 200m long series of steel walk ways, towers up to 70m into the forest canopy and offers exceptional views across the rainforest and giving you a birds eye view of the park. It is a vintage point to experience the park from and also an adrenaline experience and is an impressing one.  Today after breakfast we shall go for the canopy walk and later we drive to Akagera National Park. We shall enter the park through the southern gate and drive through to the lodge.

Day 4- Morning game drive and airport drop

Today we embark on a game drive in the northern part of Akagera National park after our breakfast at the lodge. The roads and tracks at the Park have improved since the partnership with Africa Parks and offer varied game drives around the parks. Mornings and evenings are best times for game drive at Akagera. Morning game drives are a chance to encounter the early risers like lions, leopards (predators). Leopards are present but secretive due to their solitary life, and other life include the zebras, impalas, topis, bushbucks, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, among others. After our drive, we shall drive to Kigali for your exit flight.
