5-day Mundari community tour and Rwanda gorilla safari will offer a unique experience that combines deep cultural immersion with the Mundari community of South Sudan and an unforgettable encounter with mountain gorillas in the lush forests of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.

This safari will begin in Juba, South Sudan, where you will undergo a transfer to the Mundari community, one of the remote cattle-herding communities. In this community, you will know how the Mundari connects with their cattle, elaborate on the striking body adornments, and elaborate more about their hairstyles.

You will have an amazing experience and also be immersed in the cultural lifestyle of Africa’s culture.  Combining the gorilla trekking in Rwanda will take you through the encounter of the large and powerful primates of Volcanoes National Park.

While in Rwanda, you will also adventure in the city tour of Kigali and the cultural tour to the Gorilla Guardian Village to fully immerse in the Rwandese culture.

Details of the safari

Day 1: Arrival in Juba and transfer to the Mundari community.

On this day, upon arrival at Juba International Airport, you will meet your guide. The guide will transfer you from the airport to Juba. While in Juba, you will have a refreshment. You will also receive a briefing about the 5-day Mundari community tour and Rwanda gorilla safari.

Later on, you will continue with the transfer to the Mundari community. This journey will take about 4 to 5 hours of the day. Upon arrival in the community, you will start over with the cultural immersion. The experience begins with engaging the traditions and way of life of the Mundari.

In the evening, you will choose to do a homestay in the Mundari community. Alternatively, stay in any camps around the area.

Meal plan: Lunch, dinner.

Day 2: Full day in the Mundari.

You will rise early in the morning and then continue with an early community encounter with the Mundari where you will learn about the pastoral lifestyle of the Mundari. You will participate in activities like milking, cattle herding, cow-blowing, and many others.

Later in the day, the experience continues with traditional Mundari entertainment—featuring cultural dances, songs, and storytelling. At an opportune time, the distinctive African wrestling style of the Mundari will also be showcased.

Day 3: transfer to Kigali.

After your early morning breakfast, you will start with a transfer back to Juba. While in Juba, you will board an international scheduled flight to Rwanda.

Upon arrival at the Kigali International Airport, you will be transferred from the airport to Kigali at the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: City tour and transfer to the Volcanoes National Park.

On the second last day of the 5-day Mundari community tour and Rwanda gorilla safari, start with an early morning breakfast.

Then, continue with the city tour around Kigali.

In Kigali, you will visit the Kigali genocide center, local markets, the president’s museum, and many others.

Later on, you will transfer to the volcanoes national park which will take about 2 to 3 hours of the day. In the Volcanoes National Park, you will continue with a community visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village which will take you through learning about the lifestyle of the Rwandese culture.

In this village, you will engage in several activities. These include cultural dance, preparation of the local cuisine, folk songs, and many others.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and departure.

he final day of the 5-day Mundari community tour and Rwanda gorilla safari begins with a morning breakfast.
Next, transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking.
At the headquarters, attend a short orientation about the activity.
During the briefing, the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking will be explained.

Later on, you will continue with the activity which will last about 2 to 6 hours of the day upon where you meet the gorillas. As you come across the gorillas, you will have one hour to view them.

After gorilla trekking, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. You will check out of the lodge. Then, continue with a transfer back to Kigali. Head to the airport for your outbound flight.
