Experience the ultimate adventure of the 5-day Uganda and Rwanda double gorilla trekking safari that will give you an opportunity to encounter the large and powerful primates. This safari combines primate encounters, culture, and breathtaking landscapes in the heart of East Africa.

In this safari, gorilla trekking is a prime activity, where it has different experiences in both countries. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Volcanoes National Park are the main prime destinations during the safari.

Encountering these gorillas is one of the lifetime experiences that involves tracking them through the dense forests of the park. The other activities that you can engage in include the Batwa community experience, the Dian Fossey Museum visit, and the Iby’wacu community visit.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Details of the safari

Day 1: Arrival and transfer by road to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

On arrival at the Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by a company representative who will transfer you from the airport to Entebbe. While in Entebbe, you will proceed with a refreshment to a hotel of your choice. Later on, you will proceed with a transfer to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

In this transfer, you will make a stopover at the equator for a photography session and later continue with the transfer to the park. Upon arrival at the park in the evening, you will go ahead with relaxation and stay overnight at the lodge.

Meal plan: Lunch, dinner

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community visit

You will start day 2 with an early morning breakfast, and then later on you will continue with a transfer to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking. At the park headquarters, you will engage in an orientation about the activity.

In the orientation, you will be highlighted the dos and don’ts about the activity. Then you will be grouped in groups of 8 people, where each group visits one gorilla family.

Later on, you will go ahead with the activity, which will take about 2 to 7 hours of the day upon where we meet the gorillas. As you come across the gorillas, you will have 1 hour to view them at a distance of 8 meters.

After gorilla trekking, you will return to the lodge for relaxation and, later in the evening, join the Batwa community. In the Batwa community, you will engage in activities like cultural dances, storytelling, fruit gathering, coffee roasting, and many others.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

On day 3, you will have a relaxed morning at the lodge, and then you will continue with a transfer to Volcanoes National Park. As you arrive at the Cyanika border, you will check in at the migration office at the border.

Then you will proceed with the transfer to the Volcanoes National Park. As you arrive at the lodge, you will relax as you prepare for the next day.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Iby’wacu community visit

On the second-to-last day, you will proceed to the park headquarters for the second gorilla trekking, where you will proceed with the briefing about the gorilla trekking. Later on, you will proceed with the activity, which will take 2 to 7 hours of the day.

Once you encounter gorillas, you will have 1 hour to view them, maintaining a distance of 7 meters.

After the gorilla trekking, you will go ahead with a community visit to the Iby’wacu community. In the community visit , you will engage in activities like cultural dances, coffee roasting, storytelling, and many others.

You will return to the lodge for dinner, relaxation, and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Dian Fossey museum visit and transfer to Kigali.

You will start the last day with an early morning breakfast and then continue to the visit to the Dian Fossey Museum. During the visit to the museum, you will learn about the history of the late Dian Fossey and her works on the gorilla conservation efforts.

Later on, you will continue with a transfer to Kigali. While in Kigali, you will have an optional city tour according to the flight details.

After that, you will choose to be transferred to the airport or hotel of your choice.
