Embarking on the 6-day Tanzania and Rwanda safaris will take you to several iconic destinations in Rwanda and Tanzania. During this safari, you will engage in cross-border transfers between the two countries.

While on the safari, you will have a perfect blend of the primates in Rwanda and the savannah wildlife in several destinations in Tanzania. Encounter of the primates in Rwanda will take you to the Volcanoes National Park, which is one of the oldest parks in Rwanda and a home to the mountain gorillas plus other wildlife.

In this encounter of gorillas in the Volcanoes National Park shares about 98% of their DNA with humans, you also engage in a community visit to the Gorilla guardian village which will allow you to learn more about the lifestyle of the Rwandese culture.

A blended mixture of this safari will offer you an engagement of several destinations in Tanzania like Lake Manyara National Park and Serengeti National Park. Whereas in the Serengeti and Lake Manyara National Park, you will engage in the game viewing, sundowners, and cultural encounters with the Masai community.

Details of the safaris

Day 1: Transfer to the volcano national park

On this day 1 of the 6-day Tanzania and Rwanda safaris, you will meet a company guide in Kigali who will take you through the safari. You will start the day with the city tour of Kigali city where you will visit several sites around the city like Kigali genocide museum, local markets, president’s museum, and many others.

Then go ahead with the transfer to the Volcanoes National Park which is situated in the northwestern part of Rwanda. Upon arrival in the park, you will proceed with an evening community visit to the Gorilla Guardian Village ( Iby Iwacu cultural village ) .

In this cultural village, you will engage in activities like cultural dances, banana brewing, milking, coffee roasting, storytelling, and many others. Later on, you will go ahead with the transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

You will rise up early in the morning and you will engage in the early morning breakfast. As you are done with breakfast, you will go ahead with a transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking.

When you are at the park headquarters, you will receive a briefing about gorilla trekking, where you will be informed about the dos and don’ts of this activity. These highlights will guide you to ensure success while engaging in the activity, and later you will be grouped in groups of 8 people. A group of 8 people is allowed to visit one gorilla family.

Then you will later continue with the activity which will take about 2 to 8 hours of the day upon where you meet the gorillas. As you come across the gorillas, you will spend one hour viewing them maintaining a 7-meter distance.

After the activity, you will transfer to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Arusha

After your early morning breakfast, you will start the day with the morning breakfast and then proceed with the transfer to Kigali. Upon arrival in Kigali, you will continue to Kigali International airport for a scheduled chartered flight to Arusha.

As you land in Arusha, you will advance with transfer to the hotel for relaxation and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to the Lake Manyara National Park.

You will start the day 4 of the 6-day Tanzania and Rwanda safaris with an early morning breakfast and then engage in a transfer to the lake Manyara National Park. This transfer will take about 2 to 4 hours of the day to reach the park through the Mto Wa Mbu route.

As you enter the park, you will start over with the game drive to encounter several wildlife species. This park is known to be the home of the tree-climbing lions, which are identical to those of Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda.

In the game drive, you will encounter wildlife like elephants, buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, leopards, and many others. In the evening, you will engage in a sundowner at the scenic point in the park.

Day 5: Transfer game drive to the Serengeti National Park.

This second last day will start with the bush breakfast in Lake Manyara National park and then you will go ahead with the transfer game drive to the Serengeti national park. Serengeti National park is one of the most popular National parks in Tanzania famous for the wildlife migration which occurs annually.

Upon entering Serengeti National Park, you continue with the game drive to encounter several wildlife species around the Serengeti National Park. This park is populated with several wildlife that include rhinos , wildebeests , elephants , buffaloes , lions , zebras , cheetahs , leopards , and many others.

Day 6: Community visit and transfer to Arusha.

On the last day of the 6-day Tanzania and Rwanda safaris, you will catch up with an early community visit to the Masai community, which is one of the popular and indigenous communities in the Serengeti National Park. In this community, you will take part in several activities like cultural dances, fashion shows, folk songs, and many other activities.

Later on, you will go ahead with the transfer from the Serengeti National Park to Arusha where you will be dropped at the airport which will mark the end of 6 days Tanzania and Rwanda safaris.
