Introducing you to the 8-day Rwanda primate and savannah wildlife safari that will take you through the encounter of Rwanda’s iconic destination. This safari combines adventure, wildlife encounters, and Rwandese culture.
Some of these iconic destinations in Rwanda that you will encounter during the safari include Kigali, Akagera National Park, Volcanoes National Park, and Gorilla Guardian village. In this safari, you will engage in game viewing in the only iconic savannah national park of Rwanda.
In this park, you will encounter several wildlife species, including the big five. You will engage in activities like gorilla trekking, city tour, game drives, boat cruise, balloon safaris, community visit, and golden monkey trekking.

Details of the safari
Day 1: Arrival
On day 1 of the 8-day Rwanda and savannah wildlife safari upon arrival at the Kigali international airport, you will be transferred by road from the airport to the hotel in Kigali.

Day 2: city tour and transfer to Akagera National Park.
You will rise early and start with a morning breakfast, and then later on you will continue with a Kigali city tour. In this city tour, you will encounter several historical sites.
Some of the attractions that you will encounter during the city tour include local markets, the President’s museum, the Beglium Monument, and the genocide centres.
After your lunch in Kigali, you will go ahead with a transfer to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival in the park, you will continue to the lodge for relaxation and overnight.

Day 3: Full-day adventure in Akagera National Park
The full-day adventure in Akagera National Park starts with an early morning breakfast at the lodge, and then you continue with a game drive in the Akagera National Park. In this game drive, you will encounter a number of savannah wildlife like lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos, Masai giraffes, elephants, zebras, impalas, and many other wildlife.
You will engage in the picnic lunch at a scenic point in the park. Then later, you will continue with a transfer to Lake Ihema.
On arrival at Lake Ihema, you will engage in a boat cruise where you will see several wildlife species around the lake like crocodiles, hippos, elephants, and many other wildlife.
You will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.

Day 4: Balloon safari and game drive.
You will rise early and then transfer into the park at around 0500 hours. On arrival at the point for the balloon safaris, you will start with an orientation about the activity.
Then you will continue with the activity which will take about 1 to 2hours of the day. In this activity, you will have an aerial view of the park and sunrise views.
Several wildlife species will be encountered in the air, like rhinos, buffalo, lions, and many other wildlife species. You will later continue with a guided game drive around the park.
You will return to the lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you will go ahead for a sundowner at a favorite point in the park.

Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
You will start the day with a relaxed breakfast, and then you will continue with a transfer to the Volcanoes National Park. This transfer will take about 4 to 6 hours a day.
Upon arrival in the park, you will continue to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking and community visit.
After your early morning breakfast at the lodge, you will proceed with a transfer to the park headquarters for the gorilla trekking. At the park headquarters, you will meet the ranger guides who will take you through the guidelines to follow during the activity.
You will continue with gorilla trekking, which will take about 2 to 7 hours of the day under the guidance of the ranger guide. As you come across the gorillas, you will have 1 hour viewing the gorillas at a distance of 7 meters.
After the activity, you will return to the lodge for refreshment as you prepare to proceed with the community visit to the Gorilla Guardian village. In the evening, you will continue with the activity where you will encounter the culture through activities like cultural dances, preparation of the local cuisines, storytelling, and many others.

Day 7: Golden Monkey trekking and visit to the Dian Fossey University.
On the second last day of the 8-day Rwanda primate and savannah wildlife, you proceed for another primate encounter called the golden monkey trekking. This activity will start with an orientation where you will be highlighted the dos and don’ts about the activity.
Later on, you will continue with the activity which will take 2 to 4 hours of the day upon where you meet these playful primates.
After you are done with the Golden Monkey trek, you will proceed with a visit to the Dian Fossey University. During the visit to the university, you will learn about the conservation works that were conducted by the late Dian Fossey.

Day 8: Transfer to Kigali.
On the last day of the 8-day Rwanda primate and savannah wildlife safari, you will start the day with a relaxed morning at the lodge. After your breakfast at the lodge, you proceed with a transfer to Kigali.
In Kigali, you will choose to be transferred to the airport for your outbound flights or to the hotel of your choice.
