The Virunga Mountains that are shared amongst Rwanda, DRC and Uganda are home to over 500 mountain gorillas. That is half of the population and the rest live in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. In the Volcanoes National Park; Rwandan part of the Virunga more than 10 gorillas group are habituated and available for tracking. The 2 days safari from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park gives individuals with limited time a chance to see these magnificent apes.

Day 1- To Volcanoes National Park from Kigali

Leave Kigali with your guide after a meet and briefing. You can spend a little time in the Rwandan capital before the drive to North-west. It is about 3 hours but you can chat with your guide about stops and anything interesting you meet on the way. Arrive in the afternoon and check in at your lodge. There are two options for an afternoon activity after your arrival

Day 2- Gorilla tracking and back to Kigali

A day to spend a transformative one hour with man’s closest cousin-The mountain gorillas. You will have breakfast at the lodge and if you want carry packed lunch too. The park has 12 families to see and your guide will operate the transfer from the lodge to the Park headquarters where you will meet guides, rangers and porters from the park, receive a briefing and later head into the park for the trek. You will meet a gorilla family led by a dominant male, enjoy an hour of watching and photography before you return in the afternoon and then head back to Kigali. You will be dropped at the hotel or airport depending on your schedule or plan.
